Funding a forex account should be a controlled financial transaction, not a race to click the first “Deposit Now” button in a search result. IC, formerly IC Markets, lists several methods for its Global offering, but the available options and currencies may depend on the legal entity, your location and the account. Before using any of them, confirm that the money is being sent to the actual broker through an authenticated Client Area.

This guide reviews public funding information checked on 14 October 2026. It separates published processing estimates from guarantees and explains the checks that matter if your deposit has not appeared. We do not process deposits, act as a payment agent or see the balance of any customer account.
Where should an IC customer make a deposit?
IC Global recommends funding from inside the Secure Client Area. The portal is intended to present the payment routes available to the authenticated account holder. Use the official access instructions you received from the broker, inspect the address bar and verify the legal entity before submitting a transfer. This matters particularly if you first discovered the broker through an affiliate website or a search advertisement.
Do not transfer money to a private individual or an unverified bank account because someone in a chat claims to be an IC agent. A legitimate payment instruction should match the relevant broker documentation and your customer portal. If the displayed beneficiary differs from what you expect, pause and verify it through the broker's independently confirmed support channel.
IC Global deposit methods and typical published timing
| Funding method | Published timing on the Global page | Practical consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Credit or debit card | Instant | Card must be an eligible same-name method; bank authorisation can affect the payment |
| PayPal, Skrill and Neteller | Instant | Availability and currencies differ by payment provider and region |
| Bank wire transfer | Approximately 2–5 business days | International payment rails and intermediary banks may add time |
| Some regional transfers and wallets | Varies; some listed as instant | Only select methods that are actually offered to your logged-in account |
These estimates are taken from a specific official Global funding page. “Instant” usually describes the advertised processing category, not an unconditional promise that all card issuers, fraud checks or payment processors complete instantly. IC notes that certain electronic deposits can take up to an hour even where an instant method was selected. Bank wires are more sensitive to business days and cross-border handling.
Step-by-step deposit checklist
- Confirm that your account and legal entity are approved and permitted to serve residents of your country.
- Sign in through the authenticated Client Area and open its deposit or funding section.
- Select an available method and check the minimum, maximum, accepted currencies and any identity requirements.
- Use a card, wallet or bank account belonging to the trading-account holder.
- Review the beneficiary, amount, currency conversion and any intermediary charges before authorising payment.
- Keep the transaction or payment reference without sharing sensitive credentials.
- Wait for the displayed processing window, then check the broker's account balance and payment status.
A successful card-bank notification is not always equivalent to completed crediting of the trading account. Record both events separately so you can describe the problem accurately if you need support.
Third-party deposits are a serious eligibility issue
IC Global explicitly states that it does not accept third-party payments. Deposits should come from an account in the trading customer’s name. Joint bank accounts or cards may be accepted if the customer is among the named holders. This is not a minor administrative preference: using a friend's card or an unrelated business account may trigger a rejection, return or additional compliance review.
If the payer name on the bank account differs from your registration, confirm the rules with the broker before paying. Do not try to disguise ownership or route money through another person to bypass identity checks. The same name-matching principle matters when planning how funds may later be withdrawn.
How much does an IC deposit cost?
The Global funding page says IC does not charge an additional deposit or withdrawal fee, but intermediary or international banks can impose fees. Your card issuer or wallet provider may also apply currency conversion charges or other costs under its own rules. Thus a “zero broker fee” claim does not necessarily imply the amount arriving in the trading account will equal the exact amount debited from your bank after all outside charges.
Consider the transfer currency. If the account is denominated in USD but funds come from a bank account in another currency, a conversion rate may matter. Compare the actual amount credited with your payment receipt and the provider's statement before concluding a broker fee has been charged.
Why does a bank transfer take longer than an e-wallet?
Bank wires often depend on the sending bank's cut-off, correspondent banks, time zones, business days and compliance checks. A payment sent late on Friday may not progress in the same way as one sent early on a working Monday. An e-wallet or card instruction may pass more quickly through an electronic gateway, although anti-fraud or additional checks can still delay it.
The Global wire estimate of approximately two to five business days is informative, not proof that every slower payment is unacceptable. If a transfer moves through several banks or requires a beneficiary correction, the actual timeline may differ. Keep the payment reference available when requesting a trace.
Deposit missing: a practical troubleshooting sequence
Start with the sending provider. Was the payment authorised, completed, reversed, pending or rejected? Next check the amount, currency and beneficiary against the instructions displayed by the broker. Verify that the sending account is in the correct name and whether the method's normal processing window has elapsed. For a bank wire, ask the sending bank for the transaction reference and, if available, a trace.
Inside the broker portal, review payment status and any outstanding verification messages. If funds have left your bank but have not appeared after the relevant window, contact verified broker support with the reference, date, amount and the minimum documentation they request. Avoid posting full account credentials or statements on a public forum.
Depositing does not remove trading risk
Before transferring funds, decide whether the amount is truly risk capital. CFDs are leveraged and can lose value rapidly even when the payment process is secure. Tight spreads, multiple platforms or an instant deposit method do not prove that a trading strategy is profitable. Review leverage, margin and stop-out rules rather than funding based on an advertisement's maximum position size.
Our IC Markets (IC) review compares the published accounts and broker entities, while the Risk Disclosure describes the underlying product risks. These are better starting points than attempting to recover early losses with a larger second deposit.
Questions to answer before funding
Which legal company appears in the client agreement? Is the payment route currently available to your country? Does the currency conversion make sense? Is the sending account in your own name? Do you understand how a future withdrawal must be requested? Do you have sufficient funds outside the trading account for ordinary living expenses? A cautious answer to these questions is more valuable than a promise of immediate execution.
