Is IC Markets Safe in 2026? Regulation, Entities & Client Risks

· By Presiden IndonesiaBroker SafetyIC Regulation
IC is formerly known as IC Markets. Trading terms, product availability and regulatory protections can vary by region and legal entity. Confirm current conditions with the broker before trading.

“Is IC Markets safe?” is a reasonable question, but a careful answer begins with a different one: which legal company will hold your trading account? IC, formerly IC Markets, is a trading brand; regulatory authority and customer protections attach to specific firms and jurisdictions. A familiar logo, popular platform or attractive spread does not identify the entity responsible for your deposit.

This is an independent due-diligence guide based on public documents checked on 14 October 2026. It is not an audit of the broker's capital or client-fund balances, and it does not claim that we have tested how a live dispute would be resolved. Our purpose is to help readers separate verifiable information from assumptions that could affect their money.

Does the IC Markets to IC brand change affect regulation?

IC announced a migration of its global website from icmarkets.com to ic.com, planned for 11 July 2026. Changing a website or marketing identity does not, on its own, prove that every client's legal agreement or regulator has changed. Existing clients should review authenticated broker communications; new applicants should read the documents presented during their own registration.

It is also important not to confuse a brand name with a geographic marketing website. Different onboarding paths and affiliate redirects can show related companies or different eligibility requirements. An attractive landing page should never substitute for checking the company in the actual contract.

These facts come from the official IC Global regulation page. They should still be checked independently on the authority's current register. Search using both the legal company name and licence number, and confirm the authorised activity. A regulatory badge copied onto a third-party site is not equivalent evidence.

Why another IC company's licence may not protect you

A financial services group may contain companies authorised in different countries. A licence granted to one entity does not automatically extend the same leverage limits, dispute rules or compensation arrangements to a client contracted with another entity. That remains true even when both websites use a similar logo, offer MetaTrader, or share an affiliated corporate group.

In particular, avoid assuming that an offshore account receives every protection associated with Australian or European retail brokerage regulation. Check the contracting firm, governing law, complaint channels and applicable product disclosures for your exact account, rather than a marketing page that describes a different jurisdiction.

Six checks before you deposit money

  1. Company identity: Locate the full legal name in the client agreement, not only in a website header.
  2. Licence: Verify the company's current authorisation directly with the stated regulator and confirm that its permissions cover the service.
  3. Eligibility: Read residency restrictions and check whether the product may legally be offered where you live.
  4. Client-money rules: Look for the applicable treatment of client funds, insolvency provisions and any limitations or exclusions.
  5. Trading risk: Understand margin calls, stop-out conditions, slippage, financing and the possible consequences of leverage.
  6. Complaints: Know where to raise a dispute and what independent avenues, if any, apply to customers of that particular company.

None of these steps removes market risk. They do, however, reduce the chance of signing an agreement under the mistaken belief that a different company's rules apply.

What segregation and regulation cannot guarantee

Client-money segregation generally refers to rules governing the separation of customer funds from certain company funds. It is not automatically insurance against all losses or an unconditional promise of immediate withdrawal in a crisis. The applicable legal documents determine the scope of any safeguarding and the customer's possible remedies.

Regulated firms can still experience technology failures, payment delays, volatile markets and customer disputes. More importantly, even if a broker operates correctly, a leveraged position can lose money very quickly. Stops can slip and liquidation can happen during rapid price moves. Our Risk Disclosure

How to judge affiliate links and onboarding redirects

Some links to IC-related services, including those published by comparison websites, are commercial referrals. They can direct readers to an onboarding environment that is not the same as the Global documentation quoted here. When arriving through an affiliate link, inspect the destination's footer, terms and legal entity before entering personal data or paying money.

An affiliate relationship does not itself make a broker unsafe, but it does create a financial interest that readers deserve to know about. IC Forex Review discloses that interest and does not pretend to regulate or operate IC accounts. A referral page should never ask you to send broker deposits to a private individual's bank account.

Warning signs worth taking seriously

Be cautious with guarantees of daily profits, promises that “regulated means risk-free”, requests for passwords or one-time codes, offers to trade your account through an unverified chat, and pressure to make immediate deposits without seeing contractual terms. Screenshots of balances or online testimonials are not substitutes for independent evidence. Protect your identity documents and use verified broker contact routes.

Can an independent website assign one safety score?

Not responsibly for every account under a multinational brand. A reader in one jurisdiction can face a different agreement from a reader elsewhere. A more useful review distinguishes what has been documented, what has not been verified and which risks the customer must still evaluate. We do not invent five-star safety ratings or imply that IC is guaranteed to be suitable.

For more information about published fees and platforms, see our IC Markets (IC) review for 2026. For the legal basis of a decision, the client agreement and regulator's register should be your primary references.
